Turkish Super Lig side signs Ahmed Musa

The Nigerian international has finally returned to Europe after inking a contract that would see him play in the Turkish Super Lig next season

Turkish side, Fatih Karagümrük, have completed the signing of Super Eagles skipper Ahmed Musa on a free transfer. Musa took to his social media accounts to share a video of his unveiling at his new club.

The Istanbul-based club reportedly beat Galatasaray and Besiktas to the signing of the former Leicester City attacker.

Musa quit Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr last October and was still a free agent despite teaming up with hometown club Kano Pillars over the past couple of months.

Musa joins a team that finished 8th in the Turkish top-flight last season, parading former Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Vivian, Argentine midfielder Lucas Biglia and Italian forward Fabio Borini.

It is the first time Musa will play for a Turkish side in his career.

The 28-year-old has previously represented the colours of Dutch side VV Venlo and Russian giants CSKA Moscow before moving to Leicester City in 2016 for a then club-record transfer fee.

A richly fulfilling career has seen Musa won the Russian Premier League three times, one Russian Cup and two Russian Super Cups. The forward also lifted the Saudi League title with Al Nassr in 2019.

A 98-cap Nigerian international, Musa was a vital member of the Super Eagles team that secured Nigeria’s third Africa Cup of Nations title at South Africa 2013.
