Belgian Jupiler League side Royal Antwerp have completed the signing of highly-rated Nigerian youngster Alhassan Yusuf from Swedish club IFK Göteborg.
Antwerp released a statement on their website to confirm the arrival of Yusuf on a four-year deal subject to a medical on Monday.
“There is an oral agreement between IFK Göteborg and Royal Antwerp FC regarding central midfielder Alhassan Yusuf,” the statement read.
“The 20-year-old Nigerian will undergo his medical tests on Monday and will then sign a contract for 4 seasons.”
According to Fabrizio Romano, Antwerp paid Goteborg a fee in the region of 1.5m euros (₦750m) for Yusuf services. The 20-year-old only left Nigeria for Goteborg in 2018.
But with his contract set to expire next year, the Angels have decided to cash out on his services. Yusuf has played nine times for Goteborg in the Swedish top-flight this season, notching just a solitary assist.
Although his natural role at the club is a defensive midfielder, he has also played as a central midfielder and sometimes on the flanks.
The youngster made 76 appearances in his time with the Swedish side, scoring two goals and registering nine assists.
