The former Super Eagles captain has officially left the Potters despite signing a new one-year contract extension a few weeks ago
Kuwait Sporting Club have confirmed the signing of former Nigerian international John Mikel Obi on a one-year deal from Stoke City.
Soccernet earlier reported that the former Chelsea star could leave the Potters just a few weeks after he signed a one-year extension.
The report is now officially confirmed after the Kuwait Club announced the capture of the ex-Super Eagles captain on their Twitter page.
The deal takes Mikel back to Asia, having spent two years with Tianjin Jinmen Tiger. The 34-year-old joined the Chinese club after leaving Chelsea in January 2017.
After leaving China, Mikel had spells with Middlesbrough and Trabzonspor before signing for Stoke City last summer.
The ex-Super Eagles captain is now set to continue his career in the middle east. His new club won the Kuwait Crown Prince Cup Winner in the just-concluded season, but they lost the defence of their league title.
