NPFL Week 36 fixtures have now turned to results. This game week was characterised by a lot of draws. The top three teams- Akwa United, Nasarawa and Enyimba all played draws in their games.
Akwa United faced the challenging task of going to Nnewi to meet Ifeanyi Ubah. The Ifeanyi Ubah side have struggled for most parts of the season and are involved in a fight for NPFL survival.
Akwa thought they had won it when Friday Ubond scored in the 77th minute to give them the lead, but an 87th-minute equaliser made sure that the Promise keepers went home with a single point.
Nasarawa United’s hitman, Nwankwo Silas, took a break off goal-scoring today as he couldn’t help his team to a win at Dakkada. The Solid Miners played out a goalless stalemate with the Yup based side, but their position on the table remains unthreatened.
It took a Bala penalty just before half-time to restore parity for Enyimba as they drew away at Lobi stars. The Ortom boys, who went into the fixture with continental hopes, suffered a dent in their ambitions as Enyimba, who have now suffered just a loss in five away games, continue their late push for the title.
It was drama in Agege as MFM FC were able to conjure something supernatural to score two goals to equalise against Rivers United, who led for most parts of the game.
A goal in both halves from Nelson Esor and Joseph Onaja made Rivers look like they were cruising to a rare away win, but two goals in the 95th and 97th minutes from Imeh Atobasi and Michael Mbonu made sure that they shared the spoils.
Sunshine Stars are softly clawing their way out of relegation after a 3-2 win against Plateau United. Abia Warriors decimated Adamawa United. Former Champions Enugu Rangers claimed a slim 1 0 victory over Katsina United.
