Manchester City academy product Lukas Nmecha is closing in on the move to German Bundesliga side Wolfsburg. Nmecha is coming on the back of triumph at the 2021 UEFA European Under-21 Championships.
According to reports from the Daily Mail, Wolfsburg are close to sealing the £11.2m deal. Nmecha spent last season on loan at Anderlecht, where he scored 21 goals in 41 appearances.
Anderlecht manager Vincent Kompany indicated an interest in keeping the Nigeria-eligible forward, but due to financial constraints, they pulled out of the deal.
Salzburg also considered signing the forward, but they were not able to compete with the £11.2m which Wolfsburg are willing to pay.
The 22-year-old is versatile as he can play all positions in attack, but his more favoured position is in front of goal.
Nmecha has had loan spells at Middlesbrough, Preston North End, Anderlecht and Wolfsburg which, is his likely destination.
Though born in Hamburg, Nmecha represented England at the Under-16 to Under-21 levels before he switched allegiances to Germany in 2019.
