The Nigerian international enjoyed a personal best campaign last season, but he hopes to improve more when the new season kicks off
Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho has stated his intention to improve on his goalscoring record next season.
Iheanacho had a blistering finish to the 2020/2021 season, finishing as Leicester City’s highest goalscorer. The former Manchester City star scored 19 goals last season to help Leicester City win the FA Cup and a fifth-place finish in the Premier League.
Iheanacho is currently with the rest of his Foxes camped at Seagrave in preparation for their preseason campaign.
And ahead of the new season, the Nigerian international hopes to increase his previous goals tally, but more importantly, help his team win silverware. The former Golden Eaglets star has a lot of belief in his qualities and believes that he can achieve his target.
“Obviously, I scored goals last season,” Iheanacho told Leicester City’s website.
“I think, this season, we really need do more and focus on our games. I have a good feeling that this season, it might fall for us, and we’ll get what we want.”
“As I said before, we need to concentrate and focus on the games one after the other, and hopefully, we’ll get there in the end.
“I pray for more goals, but most importantly, more wins and more points.”
Despite his strong finish to the season, The Owerri born striker will need to improve his level next campaign following the arrival of Parson Daka from Salzburg and the return of Harvey Barnes from injury.
The Foxes will begin their pre-season campaign with a match against Burton Albion on the 24th of July.
