Victor Moses Stars As Spartak Moscow Edge Out Rostov

The former Super Eagles winger was a man on fire as  The Red-Whites kept their title hopes alive following a 3-2 thrilling win at Rostov

Victor Moses was on target for the second consecutive game as Spartak Moscow edged out FC Rostov in a 3-2 thriller at the Rostov Arena.

Moses’ latest strike takes his tally to three goals in 13 league games for Spartak. The 30-year-old who is on loan from Chelsea opened the scoring for Spartak in the 23rd minute courtesy of a strike from the edge of the box.

The former Nigerian international could have had more but was denied by Rostove goalkeeper on three occasions.

He was also one of the team’s creative outlets as he made three key passes. However, it was not smooth-sailing for Spartak as Rostov scored twice after Moses opener to turn the game around.

A Pavel Maslov’s own goal in the 27th minute drew Rostov level before Georgi Makhatadze’s strike five minutes later put the home side ahead.

But just as it looked like the home side would go into the break with the lead, Aleksandr Sobolev restored parity for the away side a minute before half-time.

And 13 minutes after the break, the Russian rose highest to head home the winner. The win puts Spartak just a point behind Zenith in the Russian top-flight, although The Red-Whites have played a game more.
