The Nigerian forward did not add to his eight league goals on Sunday, but he was influential as Christophe Pelissier’s men clinch a huge win that could prove crucial in their race for survival
Terem Moffi supplied Laurent Abergel’s winner as Lorient powered past ten-man Brest 1-0 at the Stade du Moustoir in a Ligue 1 game week 31 clash.
Moffi has been one of Lorient’s best performers this season, with the Nigerian forward leading the struggling side’s survival battle with eight Ligue 1 goals and two assists after 24 matches in his maiden campaign in France.
Six of those goals arrived between January and February this year, attracting the attention of Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr, who placed the 21-year-old on the standby roster of the squad for Nigeria’s Afcon qualifiers in March.
And Moffi added to his rising profile with another excellent display against Brest on Sunday afternoon.
With the game heading towards the interval scoreless, Moffi showed good feet and awareness to play a one-two pass with Abergel in the danger area, allowing the midfielder to find the back of the net.
The win pushes Christophe Pelissier’s side out of the relegation zone boasting three points better than Nimes, who host St Etienne later in the day.
