It was a battle of Super Eagles attackers in the Italian top-flight as Napoli hosted Crotone, and both players were on target for their respective clubs
Victor Osimhen scored his fourth league goal, while Simy Nwankwo a brace- although it was Napoli that edged out Crotone in a 4-3 thriller.
Simy’s brace takes his tally to 15 in the Serie A this season. The 28-year-old has now scored more goals (8) more than any other player in Europe’s top five leagues since the start of March.
He’s also just the third African player to score in five consecutive Serie A games in the three points era.
Meanwhile, Osimhen, who also scored in Nigeria’s win over Lesotho, has now scored two times in his last five league games for Napoli.
Gennaro Gattuso’s men took the lead in the 19th minute through Lorenzo Insigne before Osimhen added a second three minutes later.
Simy pulled one back for Crotone in the 25th minute before Dries Mertens restored Napoli’s two-goal lead in the 34th minute.
However, Crotone scored two goals in the second half through Simy(48′) and Junior Messias (59′) to restore parity.
But a Giovanni Di Lorenzo strike in the 72nd minute ensured Napoli would not be denied a vital three points.
