Gunners Legend Wants Aliko Dangote To Buy Arsenal Right Away

The Nigerian billionaire has never hidden his passion for the north London side and expressed severally in public his plans to buy the club at some point

Iconic Arsenal forward Kevin Campbell has called on Nigerian businessman Aliko Dangote to speed up plans to buy the club from current American owner Stan Kroenke.

Kroenke, the majority shareholder at Emirates Stadium, has never been the most beloved man among Arsenal fans.

But his reputation reached an all-time low with the Gunners supporters after it became public knowledge that the American was behind the club’s involvement in the disastrous European Super League.

Dangote, Africa’s richest man, has severally hinted he could buy Arsenal in 2021, if a number of multi-billion dollar projects for his company are completed on time.

The 62-year-old founded the Dangote Group – the largest conglomerate in West Africa – and he’s thought to have a net worth of more than $11 billion.

Former Gunners striker Campbell is one of many Arsenal fans who believes that the time is right for Dangote to take over at Emirates Stadium.

When asked if he would welcome a Dangote takeover, Campbell said via Football Insider: “100 per cent, I would love to see him take over.

“First and foremost he is a massive fan of Arsenal. He is also one of the wealthiest guys around. He has got the money. That is the key. He has more than got the money.”

Arsenal have not been the force they used to be back in the late nineties and the early 2000s and Campbell is convinced that Dangote has the resources and desire to lift the Gunners back among Europe’s elite.

“As a fan of the club he would want to put us back on the right footing. 100 per cent, I would love it to happen. I would absolutely love it.

“At the end of the day, all fans can hope for is an owner who cares. You want the owner to put the best possible product out on the pitch.

“It is not like how it was in the 70s and 80s. These football clubs are global entities,” the former Everton forward concluded.
