The Nigerian youngster is enjoying a spectacular breakthrough season in Belgium, attracting the attention of top European clubs
As per top transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, exciting prospect Ike Ugbo has decided against making his loan deal at Cercle Brugge permanent.
And with a return to parent club Chelsea unlikely, the England youth international will look to secure a move to one of the top European clubs monitoring his development.
French Ligue 1 club Monaco have reportedly joined Premier League side Fulham and Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt in the race to sign the free-scoring Nigerian forward.
A Chelsea academy graduate, Ugbo switched to Cercle Brugge temporarily last summer and has been a revelation in the Belgian top-flight.
Aside from Genk’s Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu (who boasts 27 league goals), Thomas Henry and two others, no player in the First Division A has scored more goals than Ugbo’s 15.
The 22-year-old is also the only player inside the top ten scorers charts playing for a club in the league’s bottom three struggling against relegation.
Ugbo’s exploits have seemingly caught the attention of several top clubs in Europe, and a transfer is likely in the coming months.
According to reports, the England-born Nigerian lad has no desire to extend his loan deal at Cercle Brugge.
And with Chelsea willing to let him leave Stamford Bridge permanently this summer, Ugbo could join any of Monaco, Fulham, and Eintracht Frankfurt.
The three clubs are believed to have opened talks with the English Premier League giants in a bid to win the race for Ugbo. The youngster has a contract with Chelsea until 2022.
Born in England and raised in Canada, Ugbo has represented the Three Lions at the youth level. The exciting attacker, however, qualifies to represent Nigeria through his parents and has stated his intentions to represent the Super Eagles at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
