The Abia Warriors star is one of the three players from the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) at the Super Eagles Camp
Abia Warriors defender Adekunle Adeleke says he’s had a good experience so far at the Super Eagles camp in Lagos.
Adeleke, alongside Enyimba’s John Noble and Anayo Iwuala, is the three home-based players called by Gernot Rohr for Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers against the Benin Republic and Lesotho.
It’s also the first call-up for the three players, and in a squad full of foreign professionals, there could be a feeling of inferiority complex among the domestic players.
In Tuesday’s opening training session, the three players were seen training together, raising suggestions they are aloof from the team.
However, in a short chat with Soccernet, before the team departed for Benin, Adeleke revealed the home-based players are enjoying the experience.
When asked about the reception he has gotten in the camp, Adeleke said: “It’s been really good and interesting.”
Following his comments, the three players then went through the initiation process at the team’s dinner later in the day.
Adeleke, who was called up as a replacement for Omeruo, will hope to make his debut when Nigeria take on the Benin Republic on Saturday.
