England, Germany or Nigeria? Bayern’s Jamal Musiala Makes A Decision On His International Future

The highly-rated youngster is eligible to play for the two European giants and the three-time African champions, and he has now made his decision

Bayern Munich’s star Jamal Musiala has put an end to the debate over his international future after deciding to represent Germany.

Musiala was born in Stuggart, Germany to a German mother and British- Nigerian father, but he arrived in England at the age of seven, which makes him eligible to represent either of the three countries.

The 17-year-old is tipped for a big future, and he showed why he is highly-rated last night. Musiala became the youngest player to ever score a goal for a German club in the UEFA Champions League after scoring the second goal in the first leg of Bayern Munich’s 4-1 win over Lazio.

Following his brilliant display, former Bayern midfielder, Owen Hargreaves urged England manager, Gareth Southgate, to call-up the youngster.

He has represented the Three Lions youth teams 22 times, but the 17-year-old has now confirmed that he wants to represent his country of birth.

“I’ve thought about this question a lot,” he told The Athletic. “What is best for my future? Where do I have more chances to play?

“In the end, I just listened to the feeling that over a long period of time kept telling me that it was the right decision to play for Germany, the land I was born in,” he added.

Although he has featured 22 times across all competitions for the European champions this season, Musiala does not have a professional contract with the club.

However, he is expected to sign a deal when he turns 18 this Friday.
