The Nigerian striker hit double figures for the second time in his career as his side were held to a draw at home on Sunday
Former AS Roma star Umar Sadiq got his tenth goal of the Segunda Division campaign, but it was not enough to secure victory as Sabadell forced Almeria to a 2-2 draw at the Estadio de Los Juegos Mediterráneos.
Portuguese ace Samu Costa, on loan from Braga, netted the opener for Almeria moments before the interval with his first league goal for the Spaniards.
But the visitors were gifted their equaliser in the 66th minute when goalkeeper George Makaridze suffered an embarrassing moment with the ball striking him before bouncing into his net for an own goal.
Sadiq, who had a fantastic header cleared off the line in the 65th minute, then made the telling touch that restored the home side’s lead midway into the second half.
But Sabadell would not stay beaten, and Juan Hernandez found the target with a fine effort in the 84th minute to claim a share of the points for the relegation-threatened side.
Super Eagles hopeful Sadiq is two goals short of his career-high 12 goals smashed in for Partizan Belgrade in the 2019-20 season. And with 21 matches left to play in the league this term, the 23-year-old will get enough chances to set a new landmark.
