“He Could Be A Diamond” – Super Eagles Captain Tipped To Be One Of Sam Allardyce’s Best Buys

The English manager is renowned for his ability to navigate through the transfer market for top quality stars, and the Nigerian skipper may just be his latest discovery

Former England international Paul Robinson admits that Ahmed Musa is a top talent who can give West Bromwich Albion the cutting edge in attack needed to boost their survival hopes.

The ex-Tottenham goalkeeper also reserves some praise for Baggies boss Sam Allardyce who showed his uncanny eye in the transfer market by identifying the clubless Nigeria international.

Allardyce puffed up his reputation for acquiring top talents ignored by many others when he was at the helm of affairs at Bolton Wanderers.

The former Everton boss convinced established internationals such as Gary Speed, Youri Djorkaeff, Fernando Hierro, and El Hadji Diouf to join him at the Reebok Stadium.

However, Allardyce’s most significant buy remains Nigerian icon Austin Jay Jay Okocha, who quit PSG to move to Bolton Wanderers.

Okocha almost singlehandedly rescued Bolton from suffering relegation a couple of times.

Robinson believes Allardyce and former Leicester City forward Musa could combine to recreate a similar success story at the Hawthorns.

“Sam is very good at scouring the world and Europe in particular for free agents,” he told Football Insider.

“He finds players that he can just get that little bit out of, and sometimes that can be the difference.

“Musa is a very quick winger. I remember him even though he only played a handful of games for Leicester. He is an international, experienced player who might give West Brom some edge.

“Sam has said how difficult it is to pick up players in this window, but Musa could be a diamond.”

Musa has been without a club since departing former Saudi Arabian champions Al Nassr by mutual consent last summer.  However, The former CSKA Moscow star could be a Baggies’ player in the next few days.

West Brom are in dire need of a spark in attack, with the struggling side one of the lowest-scoring clubs in the Premier League.
