Nigerians Abroad: Watch Onuachu’s Goal As Semi Ajayi Makes History

The two Nigerians were the stars for their respective clubs as action continued in the Premier League and the Belgian Jupiler League

Super Eagles defender, Semi Ajayi was the hero for West Brom after his goal ensured the Baggies earned a point against Liverpool at Anfield.

The two sides clashed in their Premier League matchday 15 encounter at Anfield. Liverpool were the clear favourites going into the clash, and their dominance showed as they took the lead in the 12th minute courtesy of a Sadio Mane finish.

Jurgen Klopp’s men continued to press forward as they looked to double their advantage, but West Brom defended resiliently to go into the break with a just a goal deficit.

The second half kicked off similarly, but Liverpool found it difficult to break down a well organised West Brom defence.

Sam Allardyce’s men knew they could always get something from the game as long as the scores remained at 1-0. And they got their equaliser in the 82nd minute courtesy of a header from Semi Ajayi.

It was Ajayi’s first goal from his first shot on target in 14 Premier League appearances. Although the Nigerian international thought he had opened his account in the Baggies draw against Manchester City, it was later ruled as an own goal.

Meanwhile, in the Belgian top-flight, Onuachu continued his brilliant start to the season as he scored his 15th goal.

However, despite his goal, Genk could only manage a 1-1 draw at home against Waasland -Beveren, leaving them four points behind champions, Club Brugge.

Onuachu put Genk ahead in the 23rd, chipping Nordin Jackers in Waasland goal after being played through by Bryan Heynen. However, Aboubakary Koita’s strike in the added minute of first-half ensured both teams shared the points.

Onuachu’s international teammate, Cyriel Dessers also featured in the clash, coming on for his compatriot in the 84th minute.
