Official: Former Super Eagles Star Joins Russian Giants

The transfer window is shut Europe’s top five leagues, but Russian clubs are still able to sign players, and Spartak Moscow have signed a former Nigerian international

Victor Moses has left Chelsea to sign for Russian Premier League club, Spartak Moscow, on a season-long loan deal with an option to sign permanently.

Moses contract at Stamford Bridge runs till 2022, but Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard revealed the former Super Eagles star does not have a future at the club.

The 29-year-old spent last season on loan at Fenerbahce and Inter Milan respectively. It was reported that former manager, Antonio Conte, was interested in taking him on loan again at the San Siro, but a deal could not be agreed before the transfer window shut down.

But with Russian Premier League among the leagues whose clubs can still conduct business, Moses was offered an escape route by Spartak Moscow.

A statement on Chelsea’s website read: Victor Moses has joined Spartak Moscow on loan for the remainder of the 2020/21 campaign. Moses announced the deal on his Twitter page with Spartak also confirming it.

Narodnaya komanda finished seventh in the Russian top flight last season, but are currently second in the new campaign. Domenico Tedesco’s men are level on points with Zenith St Petersburg.
