Forgotten Nigerian international, John Ogu has played his last game for Saudi Arabian topflight side, Al-Adalah, after confirming his exit from the club.
Ogu signed a six-month contract with Adalah in January, and it was progressing well until the coronavirus put a halt to all football activities in March.
The Saudi Professional League like other divisions has however returned, but Ogu has been missing for Adalasince the league resumed in August.
Ogu has now confirmed that his time with the Nassif Al Bayawi led team is over due to his failure to join his colleagues for the league resumption.
The 32-year-old took to his Twitter to explain the circumstances that led to his exit, saying he was unable to get a flight back to Saudi Arabia.
Ogu appears to be disappointed with the way things turned out, suggesting the situation would’ve been different if there was no global pandemic.
Nonetheless, the Nigerian international has thanked fans for their support, and he’s also looking forward to the future.
It has been a difficult last year for Ogu. The Super Eagles star was without a club for six months after leaving Hapoel Beer Sheva before Adalah took a chance on him.
