PSG Overtakes Arsenal’s Record To Reach Champions League Final

The French champions reached their first Champions League final following a comprehensive win over RB Leipzig at the Estadio da Luz in Lisbon on Tuesday night

Goals from Marquinhos, Angel Di Maria and Juan Bernat helped Paris Saint Germain saw off the challenge of Leipzig to set up a date with either Lyon or Bayern Munich in the final of Europe’s biggest club competition.

The Ligue 1 side had to score two late goals in the quarter-final win over Atalanta, but they had no such scare against Julian Nagelsmann’s men.

Thomas Tuchel’s men opened the scoring through Marquinho, who also scored the equalizer against Atalanta last week. The Brazilian headed home from an Angel Di Maria’s set-piece delivery in the 13th minute to put Les Parisiens ahead.

Leipzig were finding it hard to cope with PSG’s attack, and they found themselves two goals down before half-time courtesy of a Di Maria finish after he was set up by Neymar.

It was game over 11 minutes after half-time as Juan Bernat added a third. PSG could’ve had more than three, but they were wasteful in front of goal.

Not that it mattered, however, as they reached their first champions league final. With the win, they overtook Arsenal’s record of playing most games (90) before reaching a first Champions League final.

Tuchel’s men now await the winner of the match between Bayern Munich and Lyon ahead of Sunday’s showpiece.
