There are reportedly a clutch of English and German clubs on the trail of Super Eagles forward Emmanuel Dennis, but an ex-Watford ace wants his former club to sign the Nigerian ahead of other suitors
Retired Democratic Republic of Congo striker Félix-Michel Ngonge has urged Watford to move for Club Brugge attacker Dennis who has impressed many in Belgium with his pace and agility.
Dennis enjoyed another excellent campaign where he contributed five goals and one assist to help Brugge to the Jupiler League title.
The 23-year-old, however, caught the attention of Europe’s major clubs during the UEFA Champions League group stages, where he scored a brace against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Dennis also found the back of the net when Brugge faced off with Manchester United in the Europa League.
While interests in the Nigerian from Borussia Dortmund and Napoli may have cooled in recent weeks, Premier League clubs Aston Villa and Sheffield United are still keen on adding him to their ranks.
But Ngonge wants Watford to join the race for Dennis who he considers to be a better player than Manchester United’s Odion Ighalo, another Hornets’ hero
“Other players that I recommend from Belgium? Dennis from Bruges is a good player,” Ngonge told the WatfordObserver.
“He is the one who scored a brace against Real Madrid in the Champions League.
“He is very fast and reminds me of (Odion) Ighalo, although he is better than the Nigerian because he is more agile.”
Dennis joined club Brugge in 2017 for €1.3million but is currently valued at over €13 million (transfermarkt).
