French Club Appoints Vincent Enyeama As Coach

The former Super Eagles goalkeeper was recently linked with a move to the South African Premier League, but it appears he has now finally hanged his gloves for good

French side Iris Club de Croix Football has announced the appointment of retired Nigerian goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama as the coach in charge of all the goalkeepers from the club’s reserve team down to its under-16 side.

Iris Club de Croix plays its football in Championnat National 3, the fifth tier of football in France.

Taking to their official Facebook account, IC de Croix declared:

“Vincent ENYEAMA, Nigerian International, winner of the CAN 2013, 8th World Cup finalist against France and former goalkeeper of the LOSC from 2011 to 2018, will take charge of the specific goalkeeper on the training pole (from reservee to U16).”

Enyeama’s new role sees him effectively call time on his club career, having retired from international football in 2015 after helping Nigeria lift the 2013 African Cup of Nations title in South Africa.

The former Lille goalkeeper was equally successful at the club level, winning national and continental honours with Enyimba International before going on to become an Israeli champion with both Hapoel Tel-Aviv and Maccabi Tel-Aviv.

Enyeama also won the Prix Marc-Vivien Foé award in France after keeping 11 consecutive clean sheets in Ligue 1 matches during the 2013-14 season.

He has, however, been without a club since leaving Lille in August 2018.
