The long-drawn contract war between Gernot Rohr and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is finally over after the Federation’s president, Amaju Pinnick confirmed that a deal has been agreed between the two parties.
Rohr’s future as the Super Eagles technical adviser has been uncertain for some time now with the German’s current deal set to expire in June.
While he has always expressed his desire to continue in the role, Rohr has been locked in a contractual war with the NFF.
Although the NFF also insisted they were willing to continue their relationship with the German, the football governing body revealed Rohr would have to work under new conditions which include staying in Nigeria, earning in naira and nurturing local league players.
There were doubts on whether Rohr will be willing to work under such conditions, but the former Bordeaux manager cleared those doubts, saying he has no problem with the new terms.
Still, an agreement could not be reached between the two parties with reports even coming out last week that the Ministry of Sports wants former Tottenham manager, Harry Redknapp, to replace the former Bayern Munich star.
However, last weekend, Rohr confirmed he already signed a new deal, and Pinnick has now confirmed that on Wednesday evening.
In a series of tweet on his Twitter account, Pinnick confirmed the NFF has agreed a new deal with Rohr, and the Ministry of Sports back the Federation’s decision.
Rohr has now been charged with leading Nigeria to the 2022 World Cup and also winning the next Africa Cup of Nations.
