Transfers: Inter Milan Resigned To Losing Star Striker To Barcelona

The Nerazzurri are set to lose the services of star forward Lautaro Martinez to the La Liga champions in the summer with the Argentine keen to reunite with international teammate Lionel Messi.

Barcelona are linked with a host of strikers has the Catalans look to find a long time replacement for 33-year-old Luis Suarez.

But the Spanish champions are believed to be impressed with the profile of Martinez and view the Inter Milan star as the perfect attacking partner for compatriot Messi.

Martinez has enjoyed a splendid campaign this far, netting 11 times in 22 league games while scoring another five goals in just six Champions League matches.

According to Sport in Spain (via fcinternews.it), Inter appear almost resigned to see the 22-year-old depart the San Siro before the start of next season, in the direction to Camp Nou.

Apart from the lure of sharing the same dressing room with one of the greatest players in history, another reason Martinez may jump at Barcelona’s offer, as cited by the Spanish paper, is the desire for a better wage package.

Inter are reportedly willing to increase the youngster’s salary to four million euros per season less than two years after arriving in Europe from Racing. But Lautaro would like to earn twice as much, a mark that Barca would meet without any problem.

Martinez’s contract does not expire until the summer of 2023, a situation that leaves the Nerazzurri with the significant advantage ahead of any transfer dealings at the end of the season.

Despite the interest from Premier League (Manchester City and Chelsea), the destination chosen by the Argentine would seem to be Barcelona, and he is ready to take advantage of a monstrous offer from the Blaugrana compared to the renewal proposed by the Nerazzurri.
