NFF Won’t Back Down On Rohr’s Contract Conditions-Pinnick

The former Bordeaux manager’s contract expires in June, but the President of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), insists he must accept their conditions if he wants to earn a new deal.

NFF’s president, Amaju Pinnick has revealed the country’s football governing body is ready to offer Gernot Rohr a new contract provided he is prepared to stay in Nigeria, earn in Naira and also nurture local league players.

Rohr’s current deal ends in less than three months, but he would need to accept NFF’s new terms if he intends to stay on as the Super Eagles manager.

The German tactician currently resides in France and only stay in Nigeria ahead of a Super Eagles match. Also, he is presently paid in dollars, while he has been criticised for his treatment of NPFL players.

However, he won’t have these luxuries anymore if he wants to sign a new deal according to Pinnick. The NFF president said in an interview on Arise TV that Rohr will have to accept to live in Nigeria and earn in the country’s currency if he wants to continue as Super Eagles manager.

The Delta state born administrator also hinted Rohr should count himself lucky as many managers want to coach Nigeria.

“We have told him he must live in Nigeria,” Pinnick said.  His salary will be in Naira. He must go around the leagues and see how he can nurture the players. If he is able to accept it, we have a deal. There are a lot of coaches that want to coach Nigeria.

Since he signed in 2016, Rohr has led the Super Eagles to two major tournaments with a game to spare, while he has also created a team that has a mixture of youth and experience.
