Lille forward Victor Osimhen should not hesitate to quit the French side and move to United as he possesses the quality to thrive at the club, says ex-Portsmouth defender Sam Sodje.
The former Nigeria international urged the Lille hotshot to shun his doubts and follow in the footsteps of his countryman, Victor Ighalo, to Old Trafford.
Ighalo’s temporary switch to United in January received many criticisms. But the 30-year-old has silenced all his doubters after smashing in four goals in just three starts for the Red Devils.
While it is looking increasingly likely that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may hand the former Watford ace a permanent deal when football resumes from its coronavirus-induced break, another Nigerian forward is now being constantly linked with a United switch.
Osimhen has had an incredible debut season in France, with the 21-year-old netting 18 goals in all competitions for Les Dogues.
And Sodje, who once turned out for Reading in the Premier League, is confident that the former Sporting Charleroi star has the needed qualities to excel in the English top tier.
“He is absolutely a top striker; he is just like Ighalo, he has incredible statistics and can add something special to the team, ” Sodje said, in quotes obtained from New Nigeria Telegraph.
“Here is a striker with impressive speed and he also knows how to bring his teammates into play with his hold-up style.
“I don’t have a doubt in my mind that Osimhen can be the top striker at the club. I can’t even write him off because I am a former player; I know that the striker has strong mentality with what he has done at his club and the national team.
“He will fight for his shirt at the club with the likes of Rashford and Martial,” he added.
