The Nigerian legend is impressed with the talent and consistent quality displays of the young midfielder for his club and the country.
1994 African Cup of Nations winning striker Daniel Amokachi has hailed Wilfred Ndidi as the best Nigerian footballer at the moment.
The Leicester City ace has been incredible for the Foxes since joining in 2017, and he has taken his performances to an even higher level this season.
Operating from the defensive midfield position, Ndidi has shown guts and guile to help drive Brendan Rodgers’s side to a UEFA Champions League spot on the league table.
The 23-year-old also played a crucial role as the Super Eagles finished third at the 2013 AFCON tournament.
All these have impressed ex-Everton star Amokachi, who is confident that no other Nigerian star comes close to the level of Ndidi.
“I would pick Ndidi first,” Amokachi said in response to a question asking him to list his top four Nigerian players, in quotes obtained from aoifootball.
“The young man has shown tremendous quality for Leicester City and has been consistent. He is my first choice.”
‘Da Bull’ after that mentioned Lille striker Victor Osimhen has the next best Nigerian star. The 21-year-old has scored 18 goals and supplied four assists across all competitions before the coronavirus-induced break.
“I also would pick Victor Osimhen, who plays for Lille in the French Ligue. He has been amazing and was very hot even before the break we are observing now.
“He knows how to score and how to play the game and has great speed, too,” Amokachi added.
