The former Super Eagles star joins Manchester United from Shanghai Greenland Shenhua on a six-month loan deal. United announced on their official website in the early hours of Saturday that they have completed the signing of Odion Ighalo.
The Red Devils were able to get their man before the transfer window closed following initial fears they may not be able to beat the deadline.
Ighalo has been brought in to help solve United’s struggles in front of goal following the injury to Marcus Rashford.
Speaking on the signing of the former Watford man, United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is confident Ighalo’s time at Old Trafford will be a success.
He also hinted that Ighalo was brought in because he offers something different to what they currently have in attack.
“Odion is an experienced player. He will come in and give us an option of a different type of centre-forward for the short spell he’s staying with us”, Solskjaer told United’s website.
“A great lad and very professional, he will make the most of his time here.”, he concluded.
The deal makes Ighalo the first Nigerian to ever play for Manchester United, and he will be hoping it brings success. It is also his second spell in the Premier League following his stint with Watford.
