Former Lazio star Ogenyi Onazi has joined Denizlispor on loan from Trabzonspor till the end of the season. The Super Eagles midfield ace has moved to another Turkish side after seeing his chances with Trabzonspor limited.
Turkish journalist, Hasan Tünce, also confirmed the transfer on his official Twitter account.
The energetic midfielder returned from a year-long injury in December but has featured in just two games since. The 27-year-old joined Trabzonspor in August 2016 for €3.5 million after enjoying a fine four-year spell in Lazio.
Trabzonspor – who also have Nigerian duo of Mikel Obi and Anthony Nwakaeme in their fold – have been considering loaning out some players of foreign nationality to make way for more players of Turkish descent as well as to be able to buy new players in the winter transfer window.
Trabzonspor already have the quoted number of foreign players allowed in the Turkish topflight (14).
According to the rule by the Turkish Football Federation, Turkish clubs are allowed to have 14 domestic and 14 foreign players in their 28-man squad. Clubs are also permitted to field 11 foreign players in their 18-man match-day squad. Onazi’s new side Denizlispor currently sit 11th on the 18-team Super Lig table.
