Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has hailed the biological make-up of midfield enforcer Wilfred Ndidi even as he described the 23-year-old’s performance on Wednesday night as excellent.
The former Liverpool manager was left impressed with the remarkable comeback of the Nigeria international after the Foxes recorded a commanding 4-1 victory over West Ham.
Ndidi suffered a knee injury early in January before undergoing surgery which should have kept him out till February. In his absence Leicester City’s went three games without a win, falling to two EPL defeats against Southampton and Burnley.
But the former Gent star made a return earlier than expected in the clash against the Hammers, coming in as a 34th-minute substitute for Nampalys Mendy as Leicester beat David Moyes men 4-1.
Following the clash, Rodgers praised Ndidi’s remarkable return, while he was also satisfied with his performance.
“It’s remarkable, really,” the Leicester City boss said after the game, according to quotes from Goal.
“We were thinking he could only play 25-30 minutes. Obviously, he was fine to come on and play a full hour. He is genetically blessed, and he recovered very, very well. And he was excellent, Rodgers added.
Ndidi has made 21 league appearances for Leicester City this season and scored twice.
