Leicester City Fans Disagree With Brendan Rodgers Over Wilfred Ndidi’s Return Date

The Leicester City boss can’t wait to welcome the Nigeria international back to the Foxes fold, but fans are wary about the consequences of rushing the midfielder back too soon.

Brendan Rodgers admitted the absence of Wilfred Ndidi had been sorely missed by his team and confirmed that the Super Eagles star could return to the squad for the fixture versus West Ham on Wednesday evening.

Ndidi’s recovery from an injury cupped at the start of January has been almost miraculous as the former Genk star was not expected to return until February following surgery on his knee.

But speaking at his pre-match press conference, Rodgers described in glowing terms the work the club’s medical team did with Ndidi to get the 23-year-old back to a good fitness level in just a short time.

“Yes, there’s a great chance he’ll be in the squad for tomorrow,” the 46-year-old said of the Ndidi.

“We’ll see how he is from today. He’s made an incredible recovery. I think that’s the thing with the type of operation he had, people will recover in different timescales. For Wilf, it was 11 days.

“He’s been out on the pitch, he’s had all the tests. It’s a great testament to him and our medical team, the work that’s gone into getting him fit. He’s available, we think.”

But the Foxes fans have called on the Leicester City gaffer not to rush the midfielder back to action. Although the Foxes are yet to win a match since the midfielder became unavailable, fans would not want him risked so as not to suffer grave consequences.

The Foxes are in search of their first win in four matches when they host West Ham on Wednesday evening in the English Premier League. A victory will take Brendan Rodgers side to within three points of champions and second-placed Manchester City.
