Fan Compares Iheanacho To Nigeria’s World Boxing Champion After Leicester City Star’s Goalscoring Resurgence

Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho has been praised for his brilliant performance in the Foxes stunning 4-1 victory over Aston Villa at the Villa Park on Sunday afternoon.

Hours after Anthony Joshua – popularly referred to as AJ – exhibited the ‘undying naija spirit’ to reclaim his world boxing titles from Ruiz Junior, Iheanacho marked his first league start with a goal and an assist to help Brendan Rodgers men humble the Villains.

Six months after losing all four of his world titles to Ruiz Jr. via a TKO in one of the biggest upsets in the history of boxing, Nigeria born hero Anthony Olufemi Joshua returned to the pinnacle of the sport by defeating the same opponent on a unanimous points decision, in the early hours of December 8.

His story, however, bears some similarity with that of former U-17 World Cup winner, Iheanacho, who is enjoying a new lease of life after a prolonged spell on the sidelines.

Before the match against Everton, the former Manchester City striker had not played a Premier League game for the Foxes this term with rumours gaining track that the Nigerian would be cast away on loan when the transfer window reopens in January.

But Kelechi Promise Iheanacho is a man reborn after providing the assist for Jamie Vardy’s equalizer and scoring the winner against the Toffees last weekend.

The 23-year-old was at it again on Sunday as he assisted yet another Jamie Vardy goal before smashing home another as Leicester City ran riot against Aston Villa.

Fans, however, credited the same ‘undying naija spirit’ on display by Anthony Joshua for being responsible for Iheanacho’s resurgence.

@makinwaoluwole: Like AJ, Like Iheanacho! Undying naija spirit. Congratulations to both!
