Nigeria’s Goalscoring Machine Wins Player Of The Month Award

After blasting home six goals and laying on three other assists in the month of November, Super Eagles hopeful and Heracles Almelo goalscoring phenomenon, Cyriel Dessers, has been named the Player of the Month in the Eredivisie on Wednesday.

Cyriel Dessers is the best performing player in November after the former Utrecht forward beat AZ Alkmaar defender Owen Wijndal (second) and Ajax star Quincy Promes (third) to the Player of the Month award, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 24-year-old striker enjoyed a fantastic form in front of goal in November as he started the month with a superb hat-trick in a 6-1 thrashing of VVV-Venlo. Dessers then grabbed the consolation goal against Ajax when the champions handed Heracles a 4-1 defeat. And over the weekend, his cute collection of two goals and two assists was enough to power Heracles Almelo past ADO Den Haag in a 4-0 win.

The former NAC Breda hotshot, who has expressed his desire to play for the Super Eagles having been born to a Nigerian mother, is currently the top scorer in the Dutch Premier League with 11 strikes, one more than PSV striker Donyell Malen and Ajax’s Promes.

Dessers also fills up the striker’s role in the Team of the Month, where he is accompanied by, among others, four players from highflying AZ, including defenders Wijndal, Pantelis Hatzidiakos and Jonas Svensson and midfielder Teun Koopmeiners.

Defender Sven Botman (sc Heerenveen), midfielders Alexander Merkel (Heracles Almelo) and Donny van de Beek (Ajax) and attackers Steven Berghuis (Feyenoord) and Quincy Promes.

Cyriel Dessers will look to strengthen his first place on the top scorers chart on Sunday when Heracles Almelo travel to face Sparta Rotterdam.
