Ebere Eze Gives An Update On His International Future

The QPR star has played for England’s youth teams, but the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) are making attempts to convince him to switch international allegiance.

Although he was born in England, Eze is qualified to represent Nigeria through his parents. He has even trained with the Super Eagles squad, but he is yet to decide on his international future.

Having met with NFF president, Amaju Pinnick a few weeks ago, the 21-year-old has revealed he will decide in due time but stated he has not spoken to Gernot Rohr contrary to reports.

Before the AFCON 2021 qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin, reports claimed Super Eagles technical adviser, Gernot Rohr spoke with the QPR star, but the 21-year-old shut down those claims.

According to Fasttrack, Eze said he did not speak with him, but his mother did speak with one of Rohr’s assistants.

No, I have only had talks with the President not with the coach. My mother spoke with one of the assistants of the coach, not me. The coach and I since the training camp in London haven’t had any direct conversation, he said.

”I trained with the senior national team of Nigeria years ago and that was it until I met the president of the NFF few weeks ago.”

“He is a nice man and I am grateful for his support and commitment for me to switch to Nigeria. I will make a decision at the right time.”
