“He’s A Poor Winger” – Super Eagles Forward Blasted For Wastefulness

Nine-man Club Brugge were held to a 2-2 draw by Galatasaray on Tuesday, a result which confirmed the exit of the Belgian giants from the Champions League and caused harsh criticisms to be directed the way of Nigeria international Emmanuel Dennis.

Emmanuel Dennis has gone from hero to zero after coming under harsh criticisms weeks after receiving plaudits for scoring a brace at the Santiago Bernabeu and earning a first invitation to the Super Eagles.

Dennis is currently going through tough times following his below average display at Galatasaray.

Brugge traveled to Turkey in need of the three points that would keep their slim Champions League hopes alive but fell behind after just 11 minutes. The visitors gradually worked their way back into the tie but a couple of missed chances halted the Belgians charge to turn the deficit around.

One of those chances fell to Nigeria’s Emmanuel Bonaventure Dennis who found himself with time and space inside the box early in the second half but the youngster dwelled too long on the chance and ended up shooting straight at Muslera.

Brugge eventually rescued a vital point in the game after Krepin Diatta scored a dramatic late equaliser before being sent-off together with Mata for their over-the-top celebrations.

Football analyst, Marc Degryse speaking to Het Laatste Nieuws on the Galatasaray-Brugge tie afterwards as monitored by Soccernet.ng, was particularly displeased with Dennis’ wastefulness in front of goal.

“If he (Dennis) has to (play as a winger and) give the last pass, it goes wrong nine times in ten.

“I have been annoyed by Emmanuel Dennis a few times.

“I prefer to see him in a two-point (striker) system instead of on the flank. He functions too often with his head to the ground.

“He is too often busy with his own ball control. You have that with Dennis. If he has to give the last pass, it goes wrong nine times in ten. It is better if he is one of the forwards who gets that pass.”
