He may not be making the big headlines like Jamie Vardy or James Maddison, but Wilfred Ndidi’s work at Leicester has not gone unnoticed, and that has drawn praises from his boss, Brendan Rodgers.
The Nigerian international who joined Leicester in 2017 has been a revelation since signing for the Foxes. The 22-year old has made Leicester fans forget Ngolo Kante due to his impressive performances since he replaced the Chelsea man.
Ndidi has most tackles and most interceptions in the Premier League this season, and that has earned praises from Rodgers. While he may not be popular as Vardy, Rodgers believes Ndidi role is as important as a striker’s role in any team.
“Ndidi is absolutely key for our team, for any team you need a good defensive midfielder that can do a lot of dirty work, as they say, the former Liverpool boss said.”
“He has a great brain to read the game. He smells danger. He can cover the ground so fast, he can press up to the ball and cover in.”
The former Genk midfielder is currently on international duty with Nigeria but will be hoping to continue his impressive form when the Foxes travel to the South Coast next Saturday to take on Brighton and Hove Albion.
