Captain Ahmed Musa And Victor Osimhen Warn Benin: We Are Ready

Super Eagles are battle ready to tear the Squirrels of Benin apart when both sides meet on Wednesday afternoon in Uyo, says hot shot Victor Osimhen.

Nigeria international and Lille FC striker Osimhen has assured the team’s teeming fans of victory when Gernot Rohr’s men face Benin Republic in an AFCON qualifying match slated for November 13.

“I am 100% ready,” Osimhen said in an interview he granted the media in the training camp, Soccernet.ng reports.

“Of course I’ll try to get the goals for the team but I’m not the only striker that can score. We also have Samuel Chukwueze and Samuel Kalu and of course, our captain (Ahmed Musa) is back, so confidence in the camp is really high.

“So, we’re looking forward to the game.”

This is the first time the senior side is playing a competitive game in the country since a 3-1 victory over Seychelles in March and Osimhen is optimistic that the team can get back to winning ways.

“It feels good to be back (in Nigeria). It’s home for us always and we are ready to give our best and make the fans happy.”

“We have been together for almost two years now and the coaches know the qualities of each of the players, so I think we will be ready.

“The squad will be complete tomorrow (Tuesday). We’ll have a full session tomorrow and be ready for the game on Wednesday.

Team captain Ahmed Musa is also back in the fold after missing Nigeria’s last two friendly matches against Ukraine and Brazil.

The Al Nassr of Saudi Arabia forward, who last represented Nigeria at the 2019 AFCON tournament in Egypt where the team earned a bronze medal, is however delighted to be back doing his best to push the Super Eagles past the Squirrels.

“I’m very happy (to be back from injury). Over 2 months now I’ve not played football but thank God finally I’m back, so i’m happy,” said Musa on Monday.

“Any time any minute the coach wants me to play, I’m ready and ready to go.

“As you can see, we don’t have much time with the team, we’ve just had our first training session with the players.

“Tomorrow we will have the team together. So I know it’s a very difficult game but we know the task ahead of us, so we will have to do our best to win the first game (against Benin).”

Nigeria will seek to grab all the three points at stake when they trade tackles with Benin at the Akwa Ibom Stadium, Uyo, on Wednesday.
