Super Eagles Star Wilfred Ndidi ‘Sets New Target For The Season
After scoring in Leicester City’s 5-0 drubbing of Newcastle on Sunday, Super Eagles star, Wilfred Ndidi has praised the team’s performance, and also jokingly said he is aiming for the “Golden Boot”.
The Nigeria international scored his second goal of the season in the Foxes big win over the Magpies after he scored in the draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge earlier this season.
Speaking to Leicester City’s official website where Soccernet.ng got excerpts from, Ndidi praised his side’s performance while he was also delighted with his second goal of the season.
“We know [since] last season, you can see we have really improved against a low-block team, “Ndidi said.
“Last season, they were really good, playing a low block so we couldn’t find a rhythm, but this season, the coach has really upped us so that shows the [quality] in the team.
“Of course, it is not always easy to stay focused in the game because against 10 men (after Isaac Hayden’s 43rd-minute red card), you feel relaxed sometimes.
“It was a great performance from the team because everyone was focused and we tried to move the ball very fast and with pace.”
On his goal, the former Genk joked he has set the target of winning the Golden Boot this season.
“Yes, it was a good goal!” he added. “I’m happy with the goal. Maybe the Golden Boot’s coming!
“It’s a team game, so it’s not [about] if you play attack, defence or midfield… we are just like a team, so we try to help each other, that’s it.
“I’m happy with the way the team is going. I am happy with the way the lads are playing and where we are now, so we just keep going and we try to make things.
“It can’t be perfect, but we try to get there. Of course, game by game, every game we take as it is so we want to give everything in every game and we think the fans will also enjoy it.”
