Man United United Lock Horn With AZ Alkmaar In Europa League

Manchester United will be searching for their first away three points this season when they visit Dutch side, AZ Alkmaar in Thursday’s Europa League at the AFAS Stadion.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men have only won two of their last 12 league games and are especially struggling away from home, which will add to a feeling of confidence at AZ, who have enjoyed a strong start to the 2019-20 campaign.

Much like United, AZ experienced a recent change in manager, with Arne Slot stepping into the role earlier this year having worked as an assistant boss since 2017.

However, unlike Thursday’s opponents, they are a team that is, although limited in technical capacity, feeling relatively settled.

Head To Head

This is the first time that AZ Alkmaar will be meeting Manchester United in Europe. The Dutch side have won two and lost six matches against English oppositions.

While Manchester United have won two and lost four against Dutch oppositions. The last time the Red Devils played against a Dutch side was against Ajax in the final of the Europa League, which United won.

Possible Line Ups

AZ Alkmaar: Bizot; Rhijn, Vlaar, Wuytens, Wijndal; Clasie, Koopmeiners, Midtso; Stengs, Idrissi, Boadu

Manchester United: Romero; Rojo, Tuanzebe, Maguire, Dalot; Matic, Fred; Mata, Lingard, Rashford; Greenwood

Betting Tips

Expect United to follow a similar pattern to the one which has plagued them since March – taking the lead and showing moments of promise, only to dissolve soon after half time and concede a sloppy equaliser, piling further pressure on Solskjaer and his players as a result. (Over 1.5)
