Gernot Rohr’s preparations for the international friendly match between Super Eagles of Nigeria and Samba boys of Brazil have suffered a big blow after Bordeaux winger Samuel Kalu pulled out of the game due to an injury to be replaced by Viv Efosa Solomon-Otabor who plays for CSKA Sofia in Bulgaria.
Kalu missed Bordeaux’s 3-1 win at Toulouse last weekend due to the same injury and won’t recover in time for Nigeria’s big clash against Brazil in Singapore.
His replacement is Viv Efosa Solomon-Otabor who currently plays for Bulgarian side, CSKA Sofia. The 23-year-old was born in Birmingham, England, and was formerly with Portsmouth before moving to Eastern Europe to join the Phoenixes.
He has played seven times in the Bulgarian topflight this season, registering one assist to help CSKA Sofia sit fourth on the table with 22 points.
Although he is eligible for England, he opted to play for Nigeria in 2015 and was invited to train with the country’s football Olympic team in 2015.
