Super Eagles media officer, Toyin Ibitoye, has declared that the international friendly game between Nigeria and the Samba Boys of Brazil would be more than a friendly encounter in Singapore on October 13.
The Samba Boys are hoping to get in shape for the South American 2022 World Cup qualifiers while the Super Eagles will be using the friendly as a build-up for the preparation for the 2021 AFCON qualifiers.
In an exclusive interview with Soccernet.ng, Ibitoye stated that the team would be hoping to get a victory against Brazil regardless of the fact that it’s a friendly game.
He insisted that the players are eager to showcase their best performance and improved on their last game against Ukraine.
“Of course, this is Brazil we are talking about and it’s a high profile game. Prestige friendly match and everybody wants to play. We want to play and play well against the most successful national team in the world. So it’s a big game that will definitely help the players’ confidence,” Ibitoye told Soccernet.ng.
“This is more than a friendly because if we can get a good result, then it is a good one for us. We are counting down to the big day already and I hope Nigeria will carry the day.
“We can’t afford to take this game with a kid-glove and I am delighted that the players are also aware of the importance of the game. I think Brazil will also be hoping to defeat us because pride is at stake. So you can expect a very explosive match in Singapore on October 13.”
