Arsenal let a two-goal lead at home to Crystal Palace slip and had a late winner disallowed by VAR. The Gunners struck twice in the first 10 minutes to take a 2-0 lead against Crystal Palace.
Both goals came from corners and both were scored by centre-backs with Sokratis Papastathopoulos sweeping in the first from close range following Granit Xhaka’s header after seven minutes.
Two minutes later, David Luiz was on hand to finish from Pepe’s whipped corner. Palace pulled a goal back in the 32nd minute when the ever-reliable Luka Milivojevic slotted home from the penalty spot.
The penalty was awarded following a VAR check for a foul on Wilfried Zaha, with the Palace winger initially having been booked for diving
Palace drew level in their match at the start of the second half, Jordan Ayew heading in James McArthur’s cross to make it 2-2 against the Gunners.
Arsenal thought they reclaimed the lead against Palace when Sokratis netted his second of the match. The Greece defender fired home with seven minutes to go following a Pepe corner but it was disallowed by VAR and that ensured both teams shared the spoils.
