Following his brilliant performance on his debut for Nigeria, Joe Aribo has been getting a lot of praises from many people with Steven Gerrard the latest to congratulate him.
The Rangers midfielder could not have asked for a better international debut after scoring inside the first five in Nigeria’s 2-2 draw against Ukraine last Tuesday.
The 23-year-old also gave a strong showing in the middle of the park for Nigeria, with some even comparing him to Austin Jay Jay Okocha.
His club manager, Steven Gerrard has now joined the growing list of people praising the former Charlton Athletic midfielder. Speaking at his pre-match press conference for Rangers clash against Livingston, Gerrard congratulated him for the goal, while also saying his call up is as a result of his form in Rangers shirt.
“Yea, I just spoke to Joe today, he was on a recovery day today, smiling away. Congratulations to him, you know his first game, he manages to get a goal, and he was rewarded for his form as a Rangers player.
“You know it’s his first call-up, so it shows you that he’s at the right place, and he’s playing football at the right level, you know European football, playing in Old Firms, at last, he’s being recognised as an international player.”
“And now he’s rewarded with his first game and gets his first goal, so he should be in a great place, he added. When asked if he thinks, Joe made the wrong move to Rangers, Gerrard said; “Joe is in the right place, trust me.”
