Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze has revealed he is in no hurry to leave Villarreal despite interest from Liverpool and other European sides.
The 20-year-old caught the attention of Europe’s topsides following a breakout campaign last season. The Nigerian international scored five goals in 26 La Liga game last season and already has one in the new campaign.
His form last season earned him a spot in Super Eagles squad that finished third at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations. Now a mainstay in Villarreal’s starting lineup, Chukwueze is attracting interest from Europe’s club sides, with Liverpool the latest club to be linked with the winger.
However, the Super Eagles star has revealed he is not in a rush to leave Estadio de la Cerámica. The former Golden Eaglets star told Goal in an interview which Soccernet.ng got excerpts from that he is taking things slowly.
“I know I am going in the right direction,” he says. “I am happy just to be playing football and to see where that takes me. I always try to see the bigger picture, and to stay patient.
I am not one who wants everything immediately. I am happy to take smaller steps on the way to the bigger goals. “I just love to play. I love training. From the moment I wake up, I want to be kicking a ball. It is a joy for me.”
