Salisu Makes A Return To Super Eagles After One-Year Ban

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed the return of Super Eagles assistant coach, Salisu Yusuf back to the team.

Salisu was suspended last year by the NFF Ethics Committee for his involvement in accepting bribe worth $1000 in order to manipulate his players’ selection for the 2017 WAFU Cup of Nations in Ghana.

He was also issued a fine of $5000 and a one-year ban from football-related activities.

His return was confirmed via a statement on their website Thennf.com on Thursday.

“The Nigeria Football Federation has noted that the Chief Coach of the Super Eagles, Salisu Yusuf has now fully served the one–year suspension clamped on him last year,” the FA statement read.

“The Federation thanked Coach Imama Amapakabo for his sterling efforts while in charge of the U23 National Team in the absence of the suspended Yusuf, and for eventually seeing to the team’s qualification for the U23 AFCON.”

Meanwhile, Soccernet.ng learnt that there was no confirmation yet on whether Salisu would retain his post as the Head coach of the Home Based Super Eagles.

But it appears he would take over from stand-in coach Imama Amapakabo when Super Eagles confront the Squirrels of Benin in a 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
