Rohr: No More Goalkeeping Problems For Nigeria, Reveals Who The Super Eagles Want To Play In October

Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr has assured Nigerian football fans that the problem that has plagued the goalkeeping department of the national team is now a thing of the past.

Since Vincent Enyeama retired, the Super Eagles have struggled to find a decent replacement, with the likes of Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Daniel Akpeyi failing to impress.

Although Francis Uzoho did better than those two when he was given the chance, his form as regressed since he moved to Cyprus due to lack of activity at his club.

However, after switching clubs last summer, he is back playing regularly and that showed in his performance in Nigeria’s 2-2 draw with Ukraine last Tuesday.

With him, back playing regularly and Fortuna Dusseldorf II goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye now in the team, Gernot Rohr believes the Super Eagles have solved their goalkeeping issues.

The former Bordeaux manager said this in an interview on NFF twitter handle which was monitored by Soccernet.ng. “Our goalkeeper, Uzoho is much better, because he is playing in his club, and even in the goalkeeper positions we had problems, but we see that, we have already the answer.”

The German tactician went on to say that the team will be playing friendlies against African teams in the next round of international break because of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers which begin in November.

When asked about who the team are likely to play in October, Rohr said: “We have to play against African teams, because the qualifiers we get African teams.”

“We have to play Benin at first at home, and then we have to go to Lesotho, so we have to be used to African football. Today was European football (referring to the Ukraine game) and the players did very well, now we have to go back to Africa, or perhaps play in Europe against other African teams like they do, Rohr added.

  • I like to become a football if I have the chance and this is my number 0814 166 7295 if you need playes

  • Nice job on the side of the tactician and the players as well. I will advise the coach to look beyond sentiment and usher in the best hands and "legs" for optimal execution of our matches. On the goal keeping area, I suggest calling back Vincent Enyeama. For now, anything short of Vincent's goal keeping is still a mirage.

  • am a good wide man on opposite flank with great passing ability if there is a chance my nose are +2347061280214

  • please call vincent onyeama back,as far as he have intention to come back. by doing that our problem for keeper will be solve

  • I will like Vincent Enyeama to come back so that the join once will gain more experience from him because we know what Vincent can give to Nigerian. Many thanks from INUA UTIP SUNDAY

  • Let the most experienced of them, the ageless Vincent Enyeama, be invited into the Super Eagles again. In the first place, It will be a big boost to the team and secondly, the likes of Francis Uzoho and Maduka Okoye will benefit from his wealth of experience.
