CHAN Qualifier: Super Eagles Captain Reveals Why Team Lost To Togo

Home Based Super Eagles captain, Mfon Udo, has revealed that the team needless mistakes and inability to follow the coaches instructions was behind their scandalous loss against Togo in the first leg of the CHAN 2020 qualifiers at Stade de Kegue in Lome.

However, Udoh, who was unhappy with the 4-1 heavy defeat the team experienced, stated that Nigeria still have an outside chance of qualifying to the next round of CHAN if the players show some level of concentration in the second leg.

“We were very unfortunate to lose, we didn’t play according to the instructions of the coaches, too many mistakes and lack of concentration but the deeds has already been done. We have enough time to correct all our errors.”

“We have been wounded, bruised and back are against the wall but we’ll fight back like wounded lions and regain our pride, the pride of African football.”

In the same vein, Super Eagles goalkeeper Adamu Abubakar, believes Nigeria 4-1 loss against Togo will be reverse in the second leg.

He reiterated that the players are committed ad determine to make the country proud by ensuring that they beat Togo with the same margin in the second leg.

“I believe we can still qualify because Libya beat us 2-0 and we came back to Nigeria to beat them despite every body saying we can’t beat them,” he said.

“Sudan beat us 1-0 a d we still beat them to qualify. I believe everything will be okay, no problem. We can win well more than 3 self and beat them.”
