Nigeria’s John Obi Mikel has reunited with a former teammate as England international and Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge completes his move to the Turkish side.

Daniel Sturridge has finally teamed up with his former Chelsea colleague and friend John Mikel Obi, seven years after both of them featured together for the Stamford Bridge giants.

The former Liverpool striker joined Trabzonspor for free after being released by Liverpool.

The Turkish club are believed to have offered the 29-year-old a two-year deal with an option of a third, worth in the region of £2.8million per season.

Sturridge joined Liverpool in January 2013 and went on to score 68 goals in 160 appearances for the club.

Injuries hampered his latter years at Anfield, with the England international starting just five games in the Premier League last season.

Sturridge was recently cleared to play again after being handed a short ban for breaching betting rules.
