Deadline Day: Alex Iwobi to Everton, and the Top 5 Transfers that could happen

Finally, the English transfer window deadline day is upon us and the busiest day of the summer is about to go full throttle.

The Premier League, for the second year in a row, has its transfer deadline the day before the season starts – in this case Thursday, 8 August at 5pm.

Soccernet bears the searchlight on five transfers that could be completed before the window slams shut.

1. Romelu Lukaku, Man United to Inter Milan

Antonio Conte has made no secret of his desire to take Big ROM to the San Siro just about the same time that Ole Gunnar Sokskjaer revealed that the Belgian striker is no longer part of his immediate plans.

Several bids have been tendered and rejected but the next one should bring an end to this drawn out transfer saga.

2. Alex Iwobi, Arsenal to Everton

Out of the blues, the Toffees submitted a 30 million pounds bid for the Nigerian winger after weeks of chasing Wilfried Zaha in vain.

The Gunners reportedly threw out the offer but are believed to be willing to part with their academic graduate should the Goodison Park landlords return with an improved offer.

3.David Luiz, Chelsea to Arsenal

Arsenal have said their polite goodbyes to departed captain Laurent Koscielny and have only a few more hours to find a replacement.

Juventus’ Daniel Rugani and Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano are names that have been thrown about to interest the Gunners but David Luiz has trumped them all.

The former Benfica defender wants out of Chelsea and has already removed the club’s name from his social media bio.

4. Ryan Sessegnon, Fulham to Tottenham

Spurs have pursued the young fullback all summer and with Fulham still not willing to lower the transfer value of their prized asset, Tottenham just have to cough out every single cent demanded for Ryan.

That signing is expected to be completed on deadline day.

5. Wilfred Zaha, Crystal Palace to Spurs

With Everton turning their attentions to Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi and Paulo Dybala not sure he wants to join Spurs and Zaha handing in a transfer request over at Crystal Palace, the only transfer that could satisfy all parties involved appear to be Zaha to Spurs.

However, Palace wants nothing less than £80 million for the former Man United winger and it is left to be seen if Spurs will take the bait.
