How Barcelona players rated against Valencia

Barcelona have put their loss against Roma behind them, returning to winning ways with a 2-1 win over Valencia.

Despite a not so good performance, Barcelona clinched a win thanks to strikes from Luis Suarez and Samuel Umtiti.

Valencia were able to pull one back from the spot late in the game due to Dembele’s reckless tackle in the 86th minute. They, however, couldn’t complete their comeback despite pushing harder in the final moments of the match

Marc-Andre ter Stegen – 8
He was no doubt one of the best players for Barcelona in the match, making great saves that ensured Barca’s win.

Sergi Roberto – 7
Had a solid performance, made some good tackles and crosses into opponent’s box.

Gerard Pique – 7
Prevented Valencia from equalising in the 50th minute with a great clearance.

Samuel Umtiti – 7
Scored the much needed second goal that gave Barcelona control of the game. He also made some vital blocks that kept Valencia out.

Jordi Alba – 8
The Spanish defender was very busy both in defence and attack, taking a strong strike at Valencia goal but was stopped by Neto.

Sergio Busquets – 7
Managed the Midfield well but wasn’t able to make major moves against Valencia.

Paulinho – 6
Made some good attacking runs, but was wasteful generally.

Andres Iniesta – 8
He was his usual self in the midfield, creating chances and making some remarkable strikes. The captain was the backbone of the team on the night.

Philippe Coutinho – 8
Had two assists in the game and was very fluid in the midfield before making way for Dembele in the 79th minute.

Luis Suarez – 7
Scored the first goal for the home team. He also put some pressure on Valencia defenders.

Lionel Messi – 7
Was rather quiet most parts of the match but was able to disturb the opponent’s defence towards the end of the game.

SUBS

Ousmane Dembele – 4
Made a reckless tackle that cost Barca a penalty.

Denis Suarez – 5
