Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has shared his thoughts on a speculative Premier League move for Barcelona, insisting it would make things much tougher.
Given the highly-charged political situation currently unfolding in Catalonia, Marca reports there are some hypothesis about where Barcelona could end up playing their football if they were to leave LaLiga.
Wenger who led his side to a 2-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday was asked about the prospect of them potentially playing in England and what he would do if that was the case.
“I’d try to learn Catalan. If Barcelona want to join the Premier League, it makes things even more difficult for everybody. But I don’t think they have gotten as far as that.
“It is interesting and there will be incidents on the sporting side as Barcelona are a highly political club.” sad Wenger as quoted on Marca
When quizzed on whether or not he would welcome the sight of Barcelona in the Premier League, the Frenchman claimed that they should look a little closer to home for new teams if they are planning an expansion.
“I think it will be interesting to see how they respond in the championship.
“We have enough clubs here with 20 but if you want to go up to 24, we have to invite the Scottish clubs before we go for the Spanish.”
